Acier Inoxydable

• Sandvik's modified 12C27 stainless steel developed for Opinel is known for its cutting and easy maintenance. The capable stainless steel to undergo the heat treatment that gives it its excellent hardness is called Martensitic. It has a carbon percentage of at least 0.40% this allows to obtain a very satisfactory cut without being sensitive to corrosion. Blade hardness 57-58 HRC

Safety ring

• Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is present on all knives that can be closed starting from N°06. Carved in stainless steel, The Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety of use), it is now possible lock the blade in the closed position (transport safety).
