- Phyto and photo protector that prevents the onset of physiopathies related to high temperatures and excessively intense solar radiation (sunburn). The product creates a film that hinders the passage of harmful solar radiation, significantly lowering the temperature. The product should be used as a preventive measure whenever climatic circumstances are foreseen that favor dehydration and the onset of burns on the epidermis of fruits or leaves. It is a calcic corrective fertilizer, non-abrasive on fruits, harmless for the useful fauna and for the operator and provides calcium useful for the preservation of the fruits after harvesting. If, on the one hand, sunlight is essential for the health and development of plants, on the other, if excessively intense, it can cause damage to the tissues, particularly in the fruits, with burns and / or darkening of the epidermis. Fruit burns caused by the sun cause significant economic losses to growers every year. Depending on the temperatures we can distinguish two types of damage: necrosis and browning. The first occurs when the temperature of the fruit (which does not correspond to that of the air) exceeds 52 ° C. The heat causes the thermal death of epidermal and subepidermal cells by inducing the formation of a necrotic spot on the side of the fruit exposed to the sun. Browning, on the other hand, occurs with fruit temperatures around 46-49 ° C and does not cause necrosis but more simply causes the formation of yellow to bronze or brown spots on the side of the fruit exposed to the sun. The applications of SunStop LG can reduce the skin temperature of the fruit even by 5 ° C. SunStop LG reduces the incidence of infrared rays responsible for raising the temperature and ultraviolet rays. In this way SunStop LG reduces damage to fruits, leaves and plants due to excessive exposure to the sun and heat.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
- The product is a fluid dispersion based on calcium carbonate and organic tackifiers. Distributed on the leaves and fruits, it creates a film that is initially white and then drying creates a network of reflective micro-crystals capable of filtering light radiation. The result is a lower incidence of infrared and UV rays and therefore a lower surface temperature of the fruit. The high calcium content improves the intensity and uniformity of color and the shelf life of the fruit.
