MASTIL MASTIC FOR GRAFTING GR. 1500 ALSO SUITABLE FOR BONSAI PROTECTS FROM MUSHROOMS AND BACTERIA.
Ready to use healing and protective mastic
Composition - Synthetic resins with elastic filming, reticular adjuvants, dispersants, viscosifiers and pH regulators, vegetable oils with softening action, pigments and inert fillers.
Technical features: Ready-to-use professional quality mastic to be applied on plant wounds resulting from grafting, pruning or accidental causes. Elastic and porous, Mastil forms a protective film that promotes healing, maintains the right degree of humidity and prevents the onset of infections.
Due to the particular coloring, the protected surfaces integrate perfectly with the remaining vegetation, avoiding unsightly color contrasts.
Mastil does not contain solvents, coalescents or other Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which, evaporating during application or drying, could create risks for the health of operators or damage the environment. Due to these characteristics,
Mastil can be safely applied even in closed spaces.
Mastil is easy to apply even on uneven surfaces, with a covering capacity of about 1.2 square meters. per kg.
How to use
• Grafts - On scions and rootstocks, using a brush or a spatula, cover the wounds with a thin and uniform layer. Until the grafting of the scion it is advisable to periodically check the integrity of the protection.
• Accidental wounds or from meteoric events and dendrosurgery operations - Trim the edges by rounding them; eliminate frayed parts; carefully clean the surface without digging into healthy wood and cover with Mastil as mentioned for the grafts.
• Pruning - Especially in the late winter period, when the atmospheric humidity is still high, the cutting of large branches (greater than 8 cm.) Requires the application of a protective mastic. In fact, parasitic forms can find shelter in the open wound and pathogens that, with the advent of summer, could spread on the vegetation. Direct contact with water and possible stagnation in the center of the wound can also promote wood rot. The application of a light layer of Mastil determines the waterproofing of the wounds allowing the cut parts to heal faster and remain vital. A few hours after application
of mastic, it is advisable to carry out treatment with Bordeaux mixture (dose: 10 grams per liter of water), a traditional product which, in addition to disinfecting new cuts, carries out a preventive action against fungal and bacterial infections. By reducing the dosage of Bordeaux mixture (eg 5 grams per liter of water), the same considerations apply also in summer pruning.
In any case, preliminary tests are always recommended.
Warning: do not apply when the temperature is below 4 ° C, in conditions of high humidity (eg foggy days) and when rain is expected within a short time (about 2 hours after treatment). Do not apply on actinidia.
