- Thai is a widely spread variety in the South Asian regions, where it is used in local cuisine. The plant, very elegant, has a sapling-shaped habit, with white-greenish, white or yellowish flowers. The small, tapered, initially green fruits become red or yellow-orange when fully ripe. Greens are pickled, reds are dried or powdered. They are used to make spicy sauces, soups and stews, or to accompany grilled fish and shellfish.
