How to use the soapstone plate
Preconditioning: (for first use only)
Clean the cooking surface thoroughly with a sponge and let it dry. Sprinkle the stone with cooking oil and let it soak for at least 4 hours (the best result is obtained by letting it rest for about 24 hours). In this way the stone will settle and it will no longer be necessary to grease it. Allow the oil to evaporate by heating it slowly over moderate heat until it reaches the maximum temperature, which is reached when a drop of vinegar dropped on the stone evaporates immediately. let it cool down naturally. After this treatment the stone is ready for use. It is recommended to heat it slowly for the first few times.
