TEQUIL , like numerous classes of compounds present in many botanical families, is characterized by having a nematicidal activity , probably, at the present state of knowledge, only minimally known . It is a product coming from specific plant extracts developed by Fertenia research, in continuous development and tested several times in experimental protocols on different crops.

The first tests in Italy were carried out a few years ago by a large group of researchers belonging to different institutions (CNR, Institute for the protection of plants of Bari, Ass. Tabacchicoltori Veneti, Experimental institutes for tobacco of Lecce, of horticulture of Monsampolo del Tronto, for the industrial crops of Bologna, Abruzzo and Emilia-Romagna Region Phytosanitary Service). On the whole, the technical responses showed good production increases , above all thanks to the biostimulating effect, even when the containment of nematodes played a more marginal role. In fact, the research group of Prof. Lamberti , the first to be interested in the development of TEQUIL , and other researchers in a recent scientific reference have confirmed the good application potential of the product. More recently, TEQUIL has been the subject of experimentation by Prof. Francesco Paolo D'Errico (Holder of the Chair of Nematology at the University of Naples "Federico II") for laboratory tests that have shown an efficacy quite high nematocide in the short term (around 50%); this data is somewhat simplistic, says Prof. D'Errico , as the real effectiveness that I have been able to ascertain is considerably reinforced by a shortening of the nematode's life.

Another very important fact, which has emerged from this last two years of experimentation, is the convenience of dividing the doses of use in several applications (2-3 interventions depending on the crop cycle) to keep below the damage threshold (IMI between 2 and 3 of the Lamberti scale) the populations of phytoparasitic nematodes.

The positive effects, essentially due to triterpenoid saponins and a large group of glycosides , are therefore essentially attributable to a greater development of the root system and therefore of the plant, with exaltation of resistance to biotic and abiotic adversities, to the control of nematodes and, very much probably, as emerged from some observations to be scientifically strengthened, of terrestrial phytopathogenic fungi.

Furthermore, the reduction of residues of phytosanitary products in the crops thus treated and the lower ecotoxicological impact should not be underestimated.

Fertenia's technicians and researchers are therefore on the right track to place TEQUIL with increasing success as a valid alternative to various synthetic chemicals.

Finally, it should be pointed out that Fertenia has in its catalog a vast and innovative range of other very technical " Fortifying-Phyto-fortifying " products which, in addition to playing a key role in regards to plant nutrition, can contribute to increasing their resistance to of biotic and abiotic adversities.
