- Line: Wellbeing and FlavorSeedsWild Herbs
- Nettle is a perennial herbaceous plant, with stinging hairs on the stem and leaves. In Italy, the many species of Urtica are frequently found in nitrogenous soils, for example among rubble and uncultivated places, near inhabited centers, or in the more humid and shady sides of the woods, from the sea to the mountains. The dioecious Urtica, commonly called Nettle, perennial and up to two meters high, is the most widespread and known species.
- Property:
- Nettle is particularly rich in phosphorus, iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and potassium. Its curative and culinary uses were already known in Greece. Nettle leaves contain good amounts of copper and zinc, which make its consumption suitable for those who want to strengthen nails and hair. Its richness in trace elements makes it a plant with remineralizing properties, suitable for consumption by those who suffer from arthritis and rheumatic diseases. It is considered as a real panacea for women who are going through menopause and a consequent reduction in bone mass, due to calcium loss. The consumption of nettle is also useful for all those who suffer from anemia or iron deficiency, with particular reference to women of childbearing age. NETTLE-SEEDS DOTTO The nettle is attributed with haemostatic and antidiabetic properties. The intake of nettle is recommended to promote intestinal regularity and in case of episodes of dysentery.
